My Doom‘ is a virus that spreads very fast. My doom spreads faster than many other viruses. Microsoft announced that they will award US$ 1 million for anyone who identifies the person who developed the my doom virus. This virus spreads through emails. The subject line of infected emails contain one of the following phrases.

  • test
  • hi
  • hello
  • Mail Delivery System Mail Transaction Failed Server Report
  • Status Error

And the body of this email contains any of the following message

  • Mail transaction failed. Partial message is available.
  • The message contains Unicode characters and has been sent as a binary attachment. The message cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII encoding and has been sent as a binary attachment.

This email may contain one or two attachments. The attached files may appear to be safe files with .htm, .txt, or .doc extensions. The second attached file may be one of .pif, .scr, .exe, .cmd, .bat or .zip extension. If you open any of these attachments then the ‘My doom’ virus gets installed in your computer. Therefore if you receive any such emails with attachments with these extensions then do not open these files. Once your computer is affected then the virus uses your Outlook contacts list and composes an email with the virus infected files attached and sends the email to all the contacts. Once your computer is infected with my doom virus the hacker can look at your computer files, delete them or install any applications. If you have an anti-virus software installed then update your antivirus software.
